Drug Description of Botox

Botox is a medication that is injected into your skin in order to diminish those fine lines that appear around your eyes. It can also be used for many other things such as on your lips, but today it seems those fine lines around the eyes are the main concerns. It has Botulinum toxin type A in the ingredients, but the Botulinum has bee purified and vacuum-dried. It is purified by using a culture solution along with a number of acid precipitations. One unit of Botox has been classified as median intraperitoneal lethal dose. Within this article, we are going to tell you more about the ever so popular botox.

When it comes to the Botox medication, each one of the vials has exactly one hundred units of clostridium botulinum type a neurotoxin complex, 0.9 milligrams of sterile sodium chloride and 0.5 milligrams of Albumin (Human).  The Botox injection is actually a poison and the doctors will use only a small amount to inject it into your skin. This small injection will last anywhere from three to four months. Botox is actually a short name that is used to describe botulinum toxin. This is a protein that bacterium Clostridium botulinum produces.  When this is injected into your skin, it actually goes in, weakens or paralyzes the muscle that has been injected. Botox was approved by the FDA in the year 1989 for the treatment of uncontrolled eyelid spasms and double vision. Today, the Botox treatment is referred to as the fountain of youth…is it really the fountain of our youth?
